Melissa McCarthy at Spy London Premiere

She plays the unlikely hero in her new 007-style spoof movie, Spy.

And Melissa McCarthy proved she can command attention while with her handsome co-stars Jude Law and Jason Statham as they were pictured together at the film's London premiere.

Posing with the rest of the cast on the red carpet in Leicester Square, the trio looked delighted to be together again as they presented the film to fans and critics on Wednesday evening.

Melissa confidently showed off her newly-slimmed down physique in a billowing high neck gown which features a keyhole cut.

Accessorising with a light brown clutch, the 44-year-old wore her brunette locks long and straight with a glossy texture.

Jude Law looked handsome as ever in a black velvet blazer teamed with a black top and trousers while his fellow British co-star Jason Statham looked suave in a dark blue suit.

Popular comedian Miranda kept things simple in a black jumpsuit while director Paul Feig and his wife Laurie Jaron cut stylish figures in their ensembles.

In the new film, Melissa - as unlikely heroine Susan Cooper - steals the spotlight from action man Statham.

CIA analyst Susan nominates herself to go undercover to expose a deadly arms dealer and gets herself into a whole host of trouble in the process.

Her director, Paul Feig, heaped praise on his star, telling More magazine: 'She's a real person. She's beautiful, but she's not your standard image of the supermodel-y movie star.

'Plus, one of the hardest things in the world to find is people who can swear effectively in a way that's not ugly.'

Spy is in theatres June 5 and also stars Rose Byrne and Allison Janney.

Jude joked that he would make a better Johnny English than James Bond, following his stint as a secret agent in Spy.

The 42-year-old may be on form as CIA agent Bradley Fine, but current 007 star Daniel Craig has nothing to fear, Law said at the European premiere of Spy in London.

'I'll probably be the next Johnny English,' he said, referring to Rowan Atkinson's bumbling spy.

Asked if he would like to play Bond, he replied: 'I don't know, I don't think I've got it in me.

'I don't think Daniel is going away anytime soon. He's clinging on to that.'

Funnywoman McCarthy, 44, plays desk-based CIA analyst Susan Cooper, who volunteers to go undercover to infiltrate the world of a dangerous arms dealer and save the world.

'I love the spy genre and I'm a big fan of that type of movie,' she said.

'When Paul and I first spoke about it, we said if Susan stays smart and the action scenes stay dangerous, we'll get something special. I think we did it.'

The actress, who wore an animal-print dress from her own clothing range, threw herself into the action scenes, which include fighting with weapons, riding a scooter around Rome and more.

She said she was keen for a sequel, adding: 'The action scenes were sore and tiring but really fun. I would love to do it again, I thoroughly enjoyed it.'

Action star Jason Statham, 47, who plays agent Rick Ford, said it was 'very easy' flexing his comedic muscle with colleagues such as Feig and McCarthy.

Law added: 'When I first read it, I loved it and really wanted to work with Paul and Melissa.'

Spy marks the third collaboration between McCarthy and Feig following Bridesmaids and The Heat. The pair are to reunite for an all-female reboot of Ghostbusters.
